How A Simple Hello Can Move The World

Posted on 13 April 2009 by Andrew

Simin, Sabrina and I (all part of Hello team) were having a supper-cum-chitchat session before Saturday (our BIG Hello Day) and we were talking about how we feel about Hello Campaign so far.

Simin was saying we really stood by a stand that she and I made with a group of friends some time ago and that is to move the world.

“At least I know we moved IMM that day”, she said, in her very cute interpretation of moving the world.

Not forgetting, the intention of that came from a source of love.

Well, we definitely moved more than IMM. Places we “move” include IMM, Jurong, Orchard, Clarke Quay, SMU, Bendemeer Secondary School. We moved the volunteers who came which includes ACJC, Bendemeerians, YMCA, Youth Bank, people who walk in, friends who came etc. Together all of us moved the strangers whom we said hello to on the streets.

We moved the world via the media as well. We were covered on radio, print media, TV news. Facebook, blogs and the social media world were talking about us. People from different countries email us indicating their interest in taking the Hello Campaign to their home.

Alone, there are only so many Hellos I can say. But with 500 people saying hellos that day on Orchard Road, I realized the essence of the Hello has been passed on. The amazing thing is, it all started with a simple idea.

I know that for those who joined us that day, the next time you say hello, it will never be the same again.

Hey we moved the world, and made a difference.

How would you like to move the world?

Hello Campaign to Singapore: Thanks!

Posted on 12 April 2009 by Edvarcl

It has been a great day!

Thousands of Singaporeans came down to support us and the warm smiles and affirmations we received from the thongs of shoppers all along Orchard Road made our efforts all worthwhile.

Media such as Channel News Asia and Suria came down to cover us, too. Thanks guys!

And this is not the end.

There are more Hello Campaigns to come. Watch out for a big announcement from us soon in end-April as Hello Campaign kick starts the next phase of its movement. We will cover Singapore in a way never been conceived yet!

Video: The Lost Generation

Posted on 10 April 2009 by Edvarcl

Some say that the Hello Campaign is a lost cause. There’s no way that Singaporeans can band together to fight back and reverse the social apathy and melancholy that has diseased our society.

The Hello Campaign does not agree.

We can and we will. What Singapore needs to start that fire is a catalyst. That spark that will ignite the fervor to change and create the warmth in society and between us as human beings. After all, connection is the fundamental part of humanity. We don’t each live in a isolated cave, do we?

The Lost Generation video struck a chord with us. The will to manifest a hope is an awesome and inspirational thing. Watch it and understand why the Hello Campaign knows that it is making a difference.

Speed Hello-ing @ IMM (beta)

Posted on 08 April 2009 by Edvarcl

This is one for the record books. While there’s speed dating (a convoluted process of securing your next dinner date at best), Hello Campaigners tried a variation–speed Hello-ing. It’s fun, it’s exciting and best of all, it’s free! Say hi to as many people as you can in one go. We shall be trying it out on April 11th.

Wanna see it in action across hundred’s of people? Join us on Hello Day at Douby Ghaut this April 11th at 12pm. We will see you there!

The Hello Campaign rap @ IMM

Posted on 07 April 2009 by Edvarcl

The energy level was really up on Saturday at IMM when Hello Campaigners joined forces with Singapore Kindness Movement’s Kindness Troopers for the inaugural opening. In fact, before Hello Campaigners formed up to welcome (because we had the largest volunteer team on the premises) the guest of honor, Lim Boon Heng, Adam, Kaishi and Waihong decided to indulge in a little music ;p

You rock, fellas!

Hello Campaign is interviewed by Suria (Behind the scenes)

Posted on 07 April 2009 by Edvarcl

Our operations manager Didi is given the props as Suria came down to IMM on Saturday to interview him for his role in the Hello Campaign. Suria essentially followed Didi around as he made his Hello rounds across IMM for an hour with a preceding full feature interview.

Great job, Didi! And thank you, Alwiyah from Suria!
